IN ETHIOPIA, girls are given very little opportunity to choose their way of life. Most females get married young and are dependent upon their families for their financial wellbeing. Many women are either already skilled or eager to seek training so that they might have the option to use their talents and become financially independent. Small businesses like a beauty salon, grain store, and chicken farm, are examples of simple yet lucrative operations that require very little start-up capital and generate revenue immediately. JWP seeks to make such opportunities for women possible. Research shows, that money invested in female entrepreneurs, gets paid back, and these women elevate not only themselves but the village as a whole.
